TOKIDOKI BY TIGER ONITSUKA
On my last trip to Taiwan, I was determined to get my son and my niece some Tiger Onitsuka shoes. I just loved the style and variety that they offered. In the past I had thought about getting them some New Balance shoes because in Asia there were color options that just weren’t available in the state. Perhaps because they were louder than would be preferred by the general public.
While shopping though I ran across these Tokidoki styles by Tiger Onitsuka so I just had to get them. Unfortunately they didn’t have a good selection of kid’s sized shoes which I found odd since I would have imagined that the Tokidoki brand would be targeted toward kids but I was able to purchase the white Hi-Top for my niece and my son had to settle for some red plaid Nike low tops. The Hi-Top cost roughly $160 US at the time of purchase back in November but I don’t know if they are available in the states yet.
However since i bought my niece these sneakers, she has yet to wear them only because she says she thinks of them as a piece of art and finds it hard to bring herself to actually wearing them out. I say fashion is meant to be enjoyed, worn and replaced. Though I know a couple people with a gallery’s worth in unworn glass encased shoes. It’s not like it’s a first edition Star Wars mint condition unopened figurine… or is it?
